My job is to remove all the caisson spoils from the hillside and grade the slope to about 45 degrees from what I guessed. The slope is kinda hilly due to spoils and natural terrain. Access to the sight is from the street above, where I will being loading the 10 wheel dump truck. The simple answer is yes. What I mean is a wheeled skid steer will tip back very easily on a hill, more so if you lift bucket up high. I don't mean they will completely turn over, front wheels come up, and the rear end of the machine bottoms out.
I don't have a ton of experience with skid steers, so are they good on hills, or should I look for something else?? and if so, what? I cannot use a dozer, here due to some concrete and pavement that will need to be crossed often! When initially cutting across a steep hillside, I definitely prefer the mini ex over the skid steer. If you don't have room to maneuver a skid steer, it's hard to do the initial cut with one across a hillside although I'm sure some good operators can do it.
