The trouble shooting guide talks about the looking at the buttons on the check valve. One is partially depressed. Could this be an indication of the trouble? It gets stuck in forward and reverse and turning doesn't work very well. We have gotten it to move every way it can but you really have to mess with it. When we got it, the hydraulic fluid was pretty low and super contaminated, (filters looked like **** also). Pull the glow plugs out of all 4 cylinders. Then use a wrench, socket or what ever and turn it over clockwise from the back end, side with the timing belt. If it turns over easy then try it with the starter. Try that and see what happens. EPU has the Deutz manual 5 or 6 pages on the proper way to set the timing.
