Hi All, looking for a bit of advice on how to get the lower stick to bucket pin bushings out on a 301.8 I got the stick to bucket linkage bushing out without much issue using a industrial ball joint press and a small slug of flat bar slipped . The pin is threaded on one end to retain it. Hardening threaded parts is complicated due to thread distortion after heating so I suspect it wasn't hardened. The pin is for the link near the bucket of a Takeuchi TB016 (little guy) if that makes a difference. The bushing in the cylinder end does appear to be hardened and doesn't seem to be worn much. Regardless of what I do as far as line boring, the pin is getting replaced with a longer one with a boss welded to the boom with a bolt through the boss and pin to keep it from moving. I have a friend with a smaller IHI excavator that the pin configuration at the stick to boom and it's also starting to twist. Most guys grease every day. We have a few machines that don't have dedicated operators. Rubber tire back hoes, a couple of mini excavators, and especially pit loaders. They sit at the gravel stock pile for months. Truck drivers load themselves, but no one greases until the bucket starts to squeak, even then it is just the bucket that gets the .
