Posted 12/11/2022 09:20 (#9977013 - in reply to #9976927) Subject: RE: Cat 289C skid steer . It just randomly starts flashing the diamond with the exclamation symbol and the hydraulic lockout light and shuts down the hydraulics. And then goes back to normal. My best guess is solenoid or wiring.

Hydraulic pump not working - Change or repair hydraulic pump if required. Defective hydraulic control valve - Install a new valve or repair it. Hydraulic cylinder is defective - Repair or change hydraulic cylinder. I spent some more time watching videos and reading about hydraulic systems, static and variable. I have a rudimentary knowledge so now I think I am ready to start troubleshooting the system. My machine has no panel and no alert for codes in operation.
I would think if it was a hydraulic pump coupler problem nothing would work. No active codes that I see, just some past low voltage codes. Any help would be appreciated! All the 289C's I've looked at are still running a mechanical injection pump. Although the headgaskets are a common failure. If the coolant reservoir is overfull and the sight glass bubble by the radiator cap is empty, good chance the head gasket is gone.
Just purchased a 2008 289c with quick attach. When using a GP bucket and loading weight on the tip or attempting to back drag, the bucket pops off of the quick attach. It looks like the pins slide up as if the springs are unable to hold tension on the pins. If the skid steer loader isn’t working correctly, the hydraulic fluid level is often at fault. Ensure the fluid level isn’t underfilled or overfilled, as hydraulic systems perform best when they have the exact amount of fluid recommended by the equipment’s manufacturer.
I have a cat 287c skid steer with hydraulic issues, everything works great except raising the bucket up is jerky, and after raising up it will drift back down about an inch or so, and after lowering bucket it will drift back up and inch or so, joystick is new and has been calibrated..
